Blink

I feel very overwhelmed right now. I know things could be a lot worse, but listening to my daughter scream in pain and not be able to make that pain go away is really tearing at me.

Going to the ER again and having the nurse chastise me, really kind of ticked me off. Does she really think I would have gone back if my daughter hadn't been screaming in pain? There was no giggling at this visit, let me tell you.

If she still isn't feeling better by noon tomorrow we are supposed to go back again. I am very much hoping that we don't, for multiple reasons.

It's been a very long week and I just want it to be done.

poor kid! and poor mom. nothing worse than seeing your kids in pain.

we had kind of the same thing with Lucy a few years ago. she woke up and said her leg hurt and wouldnt put any weight on it. so i took her to the dr and they ordered an xray but pretty much acted like i was overreacting for even bringing her in. that night, she SCREAMED in agony the whole night long. we kept her dosed up on tylenol and ibuprofen and she did calm down a bit when both were in her system. my hubby gave her a blessing and i'm sure thats the only reason we made it through the night. the next day we had labs done and they showed elevated levels of some inflamation and infection markers but they were only slight. several doctors that were talked to about the case thought it was just something minor and that she just wanted attention. but my sister, who is a nurse practitioner, told us to take her to the ER at primary childrens and not to leave until they'd given her the attention we thought she needed. they ordered an MRI but basically made us last priority, sitting us in a back room and making us wait until everyone else that needed it was done. and then they took forever to read the results. 10 hrs later (WAY too long to be stuck in a back room of a hospital with a sick kid) they read the MRI results and within minutes, rushed her back for emergency surgery. they'd found a pocket of inflammation in her bone that needed to be drained and treated ASAP. she was at primarys for 5 days total and then received IV antibiotics through a picc line for 6 weeks after that. she's fine now but it was a difficult couple of weeks. this experience taught me to always trust my motherly instincts. heavenly father gave them to me for a reason!!

Have they checked out her digestive system? --For blockages, paralyzed intestines/stomach, infections, etc? And they've checked all the other organs?

This may sound dumb, but you might try zinc -- 30-50 mg a day. I knew someone who had severe abdominal pain because his body didn't produce zinc naturally to help digest his food. It doesn't hurt to try, anyway.

There's all kinds of things it could be -- hope you find out soon!
