Every Labor Day Shane's side of the family has a reunion. Shane's family is very tight knit, so to me it's not so much of a reunion as it is a party with all of Shane's side. :) We see them a LOT! I'm not just talking Shane's brother's and sister's and their kids. This includes his uncles, aunts, their children, their children's children, etc. It's quite the par-tay!
Every year is a little different, but there is usually a four-wheeler involved for those who want to ride a four-wheeler, food, a clothing exchange where you can get rid of all the clothing you don't want or need...at least, you can try to. Some years there are horses to ride, some years there are dune buggies, and one year they had just finished restoring an old wheat thresher so whoever wanted to, got to bag wheat the old-fashioned way. It was 90 degrees. I had fun watching. ;)
This year they had it at Shane's Uncle Marvin's house. He has an amazing playground that he built and designed himself. It's quite ingenious really. The kids always have a ton of fun playing on that. Someone brought baby rabbits and had them in a little pen, and the little kids all thought that that was just cool.
Another interesting thing (and this made it most like a normal reunion), was Shane's uncle and aunt and two of their daughters had gone to visit Salem, Massachusetts, where Shane's ancestors hail from. They got pictures of the houses they lived in, land deeds, and other documentation. It was pretty cool!
After that, we went back to Shane's mom's house and he went outside with our brother-in-law to check on bees. That is their latest project. Honey. They were even able to get some, and it was good. So, we'll see how that project all turns out. They would like to get to where they could extract enough honey to sell some. We'll see. :)

That's so great your family is close. I only have one sister, but we're also very close and love to have get togethers.
