Mountain Climber

It's always interesting to me to see how little kids behave when they are in the "discovery" stage of life. For Harrison and Jeffrey this has meant that they get into EVERYTHING in their adventure of exploration, and they like to climb. Hazel would get into things a little bit, but she was more content to just deal with the items directly around her, versus a determination to find anything and everything, because there must be something better and more exciting around the corner. :)

Harrison has always loved legos. I will never forget his duplo dinosaur that he built when he was three. It looked like a dinosaur! He has always had this very creative way of looking at things and figuring things out. He is extremely talented at origami. I look at the things he makes and just shake my head in amazement. He is definitely an advanced origami master! Initially we bought him one or two books, when we felt like he showed interest, but he makes most of his creations on his own with no pattern or guide to show him how. It's quite remarkable. His new talent...welding... he wanted to make a dinosaur sculpture for his older cousin, so Shane took him down to the welding area on his dad's farm, and helped him make one. Shane was amazed. He told me that Harrison has a natural knack for it. The sculpture looks cool too!

Hazel has always liked drawing pictures and coloring things. She gets along well with others, and is very caring and kind. She has a certain style and always knows how she wants to look. It will be interesting to see what other talents she develops as she gets older. She LOVES insects. Shane and I wonder if she'll end up doing something like Hodgeson on Bones. She also likes to try and help me decorate for every holiday. If I don't have anything, she'll make it out of paper, and she's convinced that my window needs decoration all year long. :)

Jeffrey, I've decided, is our current mountain climber. He is always trying to figure out ways to get where he wants. His latest accomplishments involve climbing on to our bed (which is pretty high) and climbing on to my piano. If we let him, he'd be on the table every day! He also likes to take things apart. He'll take the remote apart and try to figure out how to put the batteries back in. Another creative mind in the making, I can tell! He also likes to throw things everywhere and see how far they will go before they land.

I'm excited to see what new things my kids come up with. It's one of the great things about being a parent. :)
